JUST IN: UNILAG Gives Fresh Update On Tuition Fees Amid Protests

UNILAG

The University of Lagos (UNILAG) administration has affirmed its commitment to continue discussions with various stakeholders regarding the recent revision of tuition fees requirements.

This statement was released on Wednesday in response to student protests against the fee adjustment.

In response to the increase in tuition fees, a group of UNILAG students took to the streets to voice their concerns. This marks the second protest within a week by the student body.

The students are contesting the university’s decision to raise fees from a range of ₦26,000 to approximately ₦76,000, to a new range between ₦120,750 and ₦240,250, contingent on the specific course of study and academic level.

UNILAG has assured that it is actively engaging with stakeholders on this matter, including a scheduled meeting with the leadership of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) on Thursday, September 14.

UNILAG’s official statement affirms, “Consequently, we acknowledge the cancellation of NANS’s planned protest for today, Wednesday, September 13, 2023, and we maintain confidence that our engagements will lead to issue resolution.”
