Male Calabar Nurse In Police Net For Defiling 14-Year-Old Girl Inside Hospital

Police in Calabar have detained male nurse Austin Etim after he is accused of defiling a 14-year-old girl within the hospital’s male ward. Austin Etim works at the General Hospital.

The defendant is believed to have committed the alleged offense over the weekend. He was apprehended yesterday as a result of reports from hospital administration and Ministry of Health intervention.

In the male ward of the hospital, the 14-year-old (name withheld) was allegedly caring for her ailing father while the mother ran around looking for other things when she was allegedly sexually abused by the male nurse.

The girl recounted the incident to her mother, who fell when she learned what had happened, and another nurse who was on duty the following morning, which was Sunday.

The teenager’s mother was incensed and called their pastor, who agreed to visit the hospital after church, but then abruptly changed her mind and stated she didn’t want the case to be continued.

It was discovered that the suspect was arrested after the hospital management repeatedly questioned the suspect, who insisted he was not involved in such an incident.

When contacted, Dr. Iwara Iwara, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Health (MOH), stated that the suspect had been suspended and that the hospital had been given 48 hours to examine the teen and produce a medical report for further investigation.
