Reality TV star Mercy Eke has reacted to the death of Ruth Otabor, the younger sister of Big Brother Naija Season 7 winner, Phyna.

Ruth tragically passed away after sustaining severe injuries in a road accident involving a truck reportedly linked to the Dangote Group near Auchi Polytechnic, Edo State. The crash, which occurred on August 13, 2025, led to the amputation of her left leg at Irrua Specialist Teaching Hospital, but she later died from complications.

Expressing deep sorrow, Mercy Eke lamented that the tragedy could have been avoided if prompt help had been provided.

She wrote:
“I only wish the Dangote Group had listened and embraced Ruth as their own. If they had acted swiftly with compassion, who knows what could have been?”

Meanwhile, in a separate development, actress Mo Bimpe clashed with a social media troll who mocked her for not having children while she promoted her new film My Miracle. The Nollywood star premiered the movie on her YouTube channel, MobimpeTV, on Sunday, but a critic hijacked the moment to leave hurtful comments about her womb and childbearing, accusing her of barrenness and questioning her womanhood.
