Oshiomhole emphasized the importance of debate and dialogue in shaping the nation’s fiscal future. He described the bills as critical for Nigeria’s development, urging stakeholders to consider the national interest over regional or ethnic sentiments.

“If you withdraw it, you’ve shut down the debate,” Oshiomhole remarked. “In a democracy, nobody gets everything they want; progress comes through negotiation.”

The tax reform bills, introduced by Tinubu’s administration, have faced strong resistance, particularly from the 19 northern governors. Critics argue that the proposals could deepen economic disparities. However, Oshiomhole dismissed claims of regional bias, asserting that truth and reason must prevail in the discussions.
