Osimhen Names Himself Among World’s Elite Ahead Of Galatasaray Clash With Juventus
According to Ireporter Online, Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen has asserted that he ranks among the world’s top centre-forwards ahead of Galatasaray’s UEFA Champions League play-off first leg against Juventus.
In an interview with Italian sports daily La Gazzetta dello Sport, Osimhen discussed the elite strikers in the upcoming fixture, stating, “I don’t like making comparisons, but I know I am among the best center-forwards around. If I’m not number one, I am number two. Or, at worst, number three.”
The forward’s confidence comes amid a generation of prolific scorers including Erling Haaland, Kylian Mbappe, Robert Lewandowski, and Harry Kane. Osimhen’s recent form provides substance to his bold claim. Since joining Galatasaray from Napoli, the 27-year-old has become the focal point of the Turkish champions’ attack, helping deliver the Super Lig title last season and continuing his impressive performance in Europe.
Galatasaray will host Juventus at RAMs Park at 9 p.m. on February 17, with a place in the Champions League Round of 16 at stake. For Osimhen, the match carries added significance, as he faces the Italian giants and reunites with former coach Luciano Spalletti. “We know we can’t afford to be distracted because every mistake against them can be very costly. And I will be facing Spalletti again,” he said.
This season, Osimhen has scored six goals in six Champions League appearances for Galatasaray, highlighting his readiness for the high-profile showdown.
