Osun 2026: APC Reveals Condition For Accepting Election Result
The Deputy Governorship Candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State, Benjamin Adereti, has said the party will accept the outcome of Saturday’s governorship election provided the exercise is conducted in a free, fair and credible manner.
According to Ireporter Online, Adereti made the statement amid heightened political tension ahead of the poll, assuring residents that the APC would not pursue electoral victory at the expense of their safety.
Speaking during an interview on TVC News’ Beyond the Headlines with Nifemi Oguntoye on Wednesday, Adereti said the party was committed to a peaceful electoral process.
He declared that the APC would accept the result of an election that genuinely reflected the wishes of voters in the state.
The APC deputy governorship candidate also condemned political violence, insisting that no political position was worth the life of any Osun resident.
Adereti pledged that neither he nor the party would encourage violence or retaliate against attacks during the election.
He further disclosed that the APC would support the prosecution of any party member found to have participated in acts of violence, regardless of the person’s political status.
The politician expressed confidence in the ability of security agencies to maintain peace and provide a safe environment for voters to exercise their constitutional rights.
He called for an election based on the principle of one person, one vote, while urging security authorities and electoral officials to prevent rigging, intimidation and other forms of malpractice.
Adereti said the APC had extensively campaigned across the state, engaging residents in local government areas, wards, markets, traditional institutions and other communities.
Despite his commitment to accepting a credible result, he expressed strong confidence that the APC would emerge victorious at the poll.
He maintained that the party’s extensive campaign activities had convinced many voters to support its candidate, while reiterating that the final outcome must be determined by the free choice of Osun residents.
