RCCG Elder Expresses Disappointment Over Pastor Iluyomade Exclusion Despite Appeals For Forgiveness
An elder of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), City of David Parish, Quincy Ayodele, has refuted allegations that Idowu Iluyomade, the former Pastor-in-Charge of the parish, rebelled against the church before establishing his own ministry.
Speaking in an interview with Daddy Freeze, Ayodele expressed surprise and disappointment at the church’s decision to bar Iluyomade from entering the church premises even after completing his three-month suspension. She revealed that numerous elders and prominent Nigerians appealed to the General Overseer, Pastor E.A. Adeboye, to reinstate Iluyomade, but their efforts were unsuccessful…READ MORE…
Ayodele stated that during the suspension period, she accompanied Iluyomade to the RCCG headquarters in Ebute Meta, believing that he would be restored to his position at the City of David or reassigned to another parish after completing his punishment. However, she was taken aback when Iluyomade received a letter prohibiting him from entering the City of David.
Describing the bond between Adeboye and Iluyomade as that of a father and son, Ayodele noted that Iluyomade had always been dedicated to fulfilling Adeboye’s wishes. Despite multiple pleas, including letters signed by church elders, Adeboye remained firm in his decision.
According to Ayodele, after being prohibited from entering the City of David, Iluyomade and his family began attending Kings Court, another RCCG parish he had previously established. However, they were later advised not to continue attending there as well.
Ayodele further recounted that some individuals even resorted to pleading while prostrating, yet Adeboye remained unmoved. She reflected on Adeboye’s teachings about pursuing a lost sheep, questioning why the same principle was not applied to Iluyomade.
She also disclosed that Iluyomade never intended to start a new church, pointing out that he had been deeply affected by the situation. Ayodele revealed that Iluyomade’s contributions to the church had been significant and expressed concern over his treatment, especially given his long-standing dedication to the RCCG.
In a recent visit to the City of David, Adeboye reportedly made remarks suggesting that those who left the church were like demons, a statement that left Ayodele disheartened. She expressed her ongoing hope for reconciliation and maintained that her involvement was to mediate the conflict rather than follow Iluyomade to his new church.
