Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, Vows to Implement Presidential Peace Pact for Lasting Stability

In a statewide broadcast on Monday, Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, expressed his commitment to fully implement the comprehensive presidential peace agreement aimed at resolving the ongoing political crisis in the state. Governor Fubara reassured the public that the peace pact, which has received mixed reactions, is not as dire as portrayed and emphasized his dedication to restoring political stability without compromising democratic values.

“As a principal participant in the entire saga, I have taken some time to study the terms therein and have come to the conclusion that the peace pact is not as bad as it is being portrayed by those genuinely opposed to it,” stated Governor Fubara.

He reiterated his acceptance of the presidential peace proclamation and pledged to implement both its spirit and letters in a manner that prioritizes the collective interest of the people and democratic values. Governor Fubara acknowledged the positive steps taken by both parties in the implementation process, such as the withdrawal of the purported impeachment notice and the release of withheld allowances for members of the state House of Assembly.

Expressing gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for his intervention, Governor Fubara highlighted the President’s deep affection for Rivers State and his commitment to achieving perfect peace. He commended President Tinubu for the Presidential Peace Proclamation on December 18, 2023, which demonstrated love for the state.

Governor Fubara also used the occasion to wish residents of the state a Merry Christmas, urging them to embrace the exemplary values of Jesus Christ, including selflessness, genuine love, and true forgiveness. Looking ahead to 2024, he expressed optimism for the speedy transformation of the state with the completion of ongoing projects and the commencement of new initiatives outlined in the 2024 budget, covering both infrastructure and human capital development.
