He pointed out the contradiction of individuals who engage in corrupt practices despite religious adherence, citing examples of leaders who prioritize personal gain over public welfare.

Sanusi lamented instances where governors in Sharia-implementing states were involved in corruption, including embezzlement of public funds for personal luxury. He underscored the importance of trust and accountability in leadership, warning of the consequences of betrayal of public trust.

The former central bank governor urged political leaders, including figures like Tinubu, to learn from past mistakes and prioritize ethical governance. He emphasized the necessity of internal purity and accountability to Allah, asserting that true righteousness stems from the heart rather than outward displays of religiosity.
