With the team currently compelled to host matches in Sokoto State due to the ongoing renovation, the Council highlighted the inconvenience faced by supporters who find it financially challenging to travel to Sokoto to watch their team play.

Notably, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) relocated the State Football Club’s home matches to the Sokoto State stadium amidst the renovation activities at the Sardauna Memorial Stadium in Gusau, the State capital.

Speaking to reporters at his office, the Executive Secretary of the Council, Hon. James Ishiaku, provided reassurance that the team would soon return to their revamped home ground within the coming months.

Ishiaku underscored Governor Dauda Lawal’s active involvement in overseeing the renovation project, affirming the governor’s satisfaction with the progress made by the contractors during three separate inspections.

“I have personally assessed the ongoing renovation, and I am confident that the stadium will be operational for various sporting events within a short span,” stated Ishiaku.

Despite the temporary relocation, Ishiaku commended the players for their commendable performance, noting the team’s positive streak with three victories and a draw in their recent matches.

He attributed this success to the state government’s commitment to sports development, emphasizing the settlement of players’ outstanding entitlements as a testament to their support for the team’s progress.
