Former Big Brother Naija star, Venita Akpofure, is grieving the tragic death of her cousin and childhood god-sister, Somtochukwu Christelle Maduagwu, a television anchor with Arise TV.

According to Ireporter Online, the 29-year-old journalist died on Monday after armed robbers attacked her residence in Katampe, Abuja. During the incident, she reportedly fell from the balcony of her third-floor apartment.

Venita took to social media to express her heartbreak, recalling how she once cared for Somtochukwu as a child. She also reshared an old post in which the late anchor had publicly supported her during her time in the Big Brother Naija house. In her emotional tribute, she wrote: “I can’t do this. I’ve been crying so badly. Sommie is my cousin/Godsister. I babysat her from childhood ❤️.”

The heartbreaking news has sparked an outpouring of condolences from friends, fans, and colleagues, who have continued to send prayers to the family.

Meanwhile, the final social media posts of Somtochukwu have resurfaced. In one of her tweets from August, she had written a solemn prayer, expressing hope that “Nigeria would never happen to her or anyone she cared about.”
