The blaze, which struck last Tuesday, ravaged 46 shops and left over 200 people in Damaturu, the state capital, grappling with loss and hardship.

A delegation led by Yobe State House of Assembly Deputy Speaker, Y’au Usman Dachia, visited the site to assess the damage and officially present the senator’s donation.

Represented by Alhaji Nasir Mato, former chairman of the United Market Traders Association, Senator Lawan expressed deep sorrow for the destruction, acknowledging the severe emotional and financial strain caused by the fire. He called on the community to come together and support the victims, urging swift assistance from all relevant authorities.

In response to the generous donation, Yobe Harmonies Traders Chairman, Alhaji Muktar Kime, thanked the former Senate President for his timely intervention. He emphasized how crucial such support was for the traders as they begin the arduous task of rebuilding their businesses.
