BREAKING: NSA Ribadu In Closed-Door Meeting With South-East Govs

The National Security Adviser to President Bola Tinubu, Nuhu Ribadu, held a closed-door meeting with Governors from the five South-East states in Abuja on Monday.

The specific agenda of the meeting was not disclosed to journalists, but it is likely related to the escalating security challenges in Anambra, Enugu, Abia, Imo, and Ebonyi states.

Last Wednesday, the Senate condemned the sit-at-home order observed in the South-East geopolitical zone on Monday and urged the Federal Government to work with the Finnish Government to extradite pro-Biafran agitator Simon Ekpa for prosecution.

The Senate also decided to invite the Minister of Foreign Affairs (once appointed) and relevant stakeholders to conduct a thorough investigation and hold accountable other sponsors of the sit-at-home action.

Additionally, the Senate rejected a recommendation for the release of IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu, stating that it would be sub judice as the matter is still before the court.

The illegal sit-at-home order is reportedly enforced by a faction of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) in the five South-East states.

This unconstitutional order was declared in 2021 to demand the release of IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu, who is currently detained by the Department of State Services (DSS) and facing terrorism-related charges.
