APC National Chairman Pays Surprise Visit To Senator Hanga In Kano

According to Ireporter Online, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, on Wednesday paid a courtesy visit to the Senator representing Kano Central, Rufai Sani Hanga of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), in a meeting that focused on the future of Kano State.

A statement released by Yilwatda disclosed that the discussion was held in a cordial atmosphere and centred on promoting unity, peace, stability and sustainable development in Kano State. He stressed that political leaders, regardless of party affiliation, have a shared obligation to strengthen democratic values, foster peaceful coexistence and place the interests of the people above partisan politics.

The APC national chairman maintained that Nigeria’s progress depends on constructive dialogue, mutual understanding and collaboration among political stakeholders. He noted that continued engagement between leaders across party lines would contribute to building a more united, peaceful and prosperous Kano State as well as a stronger Nigeria.

Yilwatda reiterated that his visit to Senator Hanga reflected the need for political leaders to work together in advancing peace and democratic governance, adding that national development is best achieved when citizens’ welfare remains the top priority.

The meeting comes amid growing efforts by the APC to persuade Senator Hanga to join the ruling party. Party leaders have argued that the Kano Central lawmaker has been marginalised within the NDC and sidelined by the leader of the Kwankwasiyya Movement, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.

The APC further claimed that Kwankwaso’s decision not to support Hanga for an elective position within the NDC demonstrated a lack of appreciation for the senator’s contributions. The ruling party has therefore appealed to Hanga to align with Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf in the APC, assuring him of greater recognition and opportunities should he decide to defect.
