The bandit leaders acknowledged their readiness to embrace peace with the new state administrations but expressed concern over continuous airstrikes by the Nigerian Air Force, which targeted their homes, families, livestock, and storage facilities.
During their recent meeting, the bandit leaders agreed to participate in peace initiatives by handing over some of their weapons to government forces while retaining others in anticipation of possible attacks by other bandit leaders in neighboring areas.
They also suggested the involvement of recognized and registered Fulani groups, such as the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), in facilitating the peace process and Amnesty Programme.

The intensified military efforts aim to root out terrorists and their activities in the North-West region.
The Nigerian Air Force has targeted various locations in Zamfara and Katsina states, including Zurmi, Tsafe, Faskari, and Jibia Local Government Areas, as part of Operation Hadarin Daji’s efforts to counter banditry in the region.
