Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, the federal legislator representing the Akoko North-East/North-West Federal Constituency of Ondo State in the House of Representatives, has officially tendered his resignation from his position in the National Assembly.

The announcement of Tunji-Ojo’s resignation, as he prepares to assume the role of Minister of Interior, was made through a letter addressed to the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon Tajudeen Abbas.

A spokesperson for Tunji-Ojo, Babatunde Alao, provided a copy of the resignation letter to DAILY POST on Sunday night.

In the letter, Tunji-Ojo confirmed that his decision to resign was prompted by his appointment as a Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in the administration of President Bola Tinubu.

He acknowledged the importance of bringing technocrats on board to contribute their expertise for the country’s advancement and economic growth during this period.

While expressing gratitude to President Tinubu for considering him capable of serving the nation in his new ministerial role, Tunji-Ojo pledged his commitment to putting forth his best efforts to support the administration’s renewed agenda and aspirations.

A portion of the letter read, “Given the urgent need for our nation to progress and achieve greater heights, I have been appointed to serve as a Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, a role that demands collaborative and dedicated efforts.”

Tunji-Ojo, popularly referred to as BTO within political circles, is one of the 48 ministers selected by President Tinubu, and the swearing-in ceremony is set to take place today, Monday, in Abuja.
