The APC (All Progressives Congress) in Kogi local government has disclosed that the suspended Executive Chairman of the Council, Abdulkareem Isah Sanni, known as ECOMOG, was dismissed from his position as the Special Adviser on Corporate Affairs to Governor Yahaya Bello.
In response to Sanni’s claim that he had resigned from his post, a notable party figure in the area, Mallam Abubakar Haruna Koto, stated that this declaration was an attempt to save face. Sanni had allegedly been implicated in criminal activities during his tenure.

Last year, Sanni’s suspension as Chairman was a result of a resolution by the 9th Kogi State Assembly, led by Speaker Prince Mathew Kolawole. The Assembly acted upon a letter from Governor Bello that accused Sanni of engaging in criminal acts.
The House unanimously decided to suspend Sanni pending an investigation by the Department of State Service (DSS).
During his suspension as Council Chairman, there were pleas from stakeholders for Sanni’s participation in governance, which Governor Yahaya Bello approved.

According to Haruna Koto, who is also the APC Leader in zone A of the local government, Sanni’s announcement of his resignation as a Special Adviser to the Governor on Corporate Affairs was an attempt to preempt the report of the investigation committee.
Investigations indicated that Sanni had been collaborating with an opposition political party in the state, with promises of a lucrative political position.
The stakeholder expressed gratitude that individuals with questionable character were distanced from the APC, noting that the Kogi local government remained an unwavering stronghold for the party. He called upon the people to stay united and vigilant, disregarding rumors circulated by what he referred to as enemies of society.
He emphasized that the APC and its candidate, Ahmed Usman Ododo, were prepared to make significant gains throughout the state, regardless of ethnic, religious, or sectional interests.
