Nasarawa Can Be Like Lagos If …. – Shettima Makes Revelation

Vice-President Kashim Shettima envisions Nasarawa’s potential to mirror the significance of Lagos in the South-Western region, but in the Northern part of Nigeria.

Mr. Shettima conveyed this perspective while receiving a delegation led by retired Justice Sidi Bage I, the chairman of the Nasarawa State Council of Chiefs, at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Wednesday.

Highlighting the state’s abundance of solid minerals, he stated, “If we productively utilise our solid minerals, Nasarawa can be to the North what Lagos is to the South-West and can be the engine room in this region because of its proximity to the FCT; opportunities abound more in Nasarawa state.”

The vice-president emphasized the importance of traditional institutions in the nation, expressing gratitude to the traditional rulers, government, and people of the state for their support during the last election.

Recognizing the influential role of traditional leaders, Mr. Shettima remarked, “You are the custodians of our rich cultural heritage; the people listen to you more than us because you are the closest to the people. We appreciate you and value you because you are our link to the past.”

He encouraged the people of Nasarawa to focus on peace and development, underlining the state’s significant role as the hub of solid minerals in the country.
