BREAKING: Tinubu’s Minister Betta Edu Lands In Trouble Over Cash Transfer Programme, Summoned (DETAILS)
The House of Representatives has issued a summons to Betta Edu, the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, to provide an update to the chamber regarding the Federal Government’s conditional cash transfer program for 15 million households.

In a motion of urgent public concern on Tuesday, the House expressed apprehension about the management of the program and raised questions about its transparency, which has resulted in fraudulent activities.

The minister is expected to furnish details on the compilation of data and the disbursement of funds.
In mid-October, President Bola Tinubu launched the Renewed Hope Conditional Cash Transfer program for 15 million households. During his Independence Day address on October 1, 2023, the President announced this cash transfer initiative, specifying that it would be directed towards vulnerable citizens.
The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs had indicated that these 15 million households encompass approximately 62 million Nigerians. She further explained that a sum of N25,000 would be provided to beneficiaries on a monthly basis, for a duration of three months, totaling N75,000 for each beneficiary.
