Kano School Security Guard Takes Own Life Over Ex-Wife’s Remarriage

The tragic event unfolded inside one of the college’s classrooms on Sunday, prompting the Kano Police command to confirm the incident.
According to the state Commissioner of Police, Usaini Gumel, the police received a report on January 28 about Shehu being found hanging motionless in a classroom.
Responding swiftly, the police team cut the rope and rushed the body to Murtala Mohammed General Hospital, where a doctor confirmed his death. The deceased’s remains were then released to his family for burial.
It was revealed that the distressing news of Shehu’s ex-wife’s remarriage played a significant role in his decision to take his own life.
The state police commissioner assured that a thorough investigation would be conducted to unravel the circumstances and events leading to this tragic incident.
This unfortunate event follows another heartbreak-related suicide on Monday, where a 24-year-old Mass Communication student at Federal Polytechnic Mubi in Adamawa State, Jemima Shetima-Balami, allegedly took her own life after her lover ended their relationship.
These incidents shed light on the mental health challenges individuals face in the aftermath of emotional distress and heartbreak.
