The probe revolves around an alleged N8.06 billion contract fraud within the Federal Ministry of Aviation during Hadi Sirika’s tenure.
Abubakar, a Level-16 officer and deputy director in the Federal Ministry of Water Resources, is believed to have secured contracts totaling N8 billion from his brother’s ministry. However, investigations revealed that a substantial sum of N3,212,258,930.18 was transferred to his company, Engirios Nigeria Limited, without corresponding executed contracts.
The contracts, ranging from airport terminal construction to aviation equipment procurement, were flagged by EFCC’s investigative team for irregularities and suspected diversion of public funds. Abubakar, listed as the company’s Managing Director/CEO and sole signatory to its accounts, faces intense scrutiny over the alleged fraudulent transactions.
As the EFCC delves deeper into the case, Abubakar’s detention and interrogation aim to uncover the extent of financial misconduct within the Aviation Ministry during his brother’s leadership. With no evidence of work completed on the contracts, the investigation sheds light on the intricate web of corruption allegedly orchestrated within the ministry’s corridors of power.
