Bauchi Governor Mohammed Mourns Former Deputy Governor Audu Katagum

According to Ireporter Online, Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, has expressed deep sorrow over the death of former Deputy Governor of the state and Wazirin Katagum, Audu Sule Katagum, describing his passing as a monumental loss to both the government and people of Bauchi State.

Katagum reportedly died in the early hours of Monday at the Nizamiye Hospital in Abuja, a development that has thrown the state into mourning.

In a condolence message, Governor Mohammed said the demise of the elder statesman has created a significant void in both the political and traditional leadership structures of the state. He described the late Katagum as a loyal, patriotic, and dedicated public servant who committed his life to humanitarian service, marked by humility, integrity, and dignity.

The governor recalled Katagum’s contributions while serving as Deputy Governor under former Governor Mohammed Abubakar, noting that he played a key role in fostering stability and advancing development in Bauchi State. He also commended his service as Chairman of the Governing Board of the Adamu Tafawa Balewa College of Education, Kangere, under the current administration, highlighting his consistent dedication to good governance and progress.

Governor Mohammed further praised the late architect and public administrator for his professional excellence, noting that his expertise significantly contributed to infrastructural development and the growth of the state’s built environment. He added that the projects and legacies left behind by Katagum would continue to serve future generations.

The governor also extolled the late traditional titleholder for his wisdom, integrity, and commitment to the unity and progress of Bauchi State, describing him as a respected bridge-builder whose influence cut across political, traditional, and social circles.

He urged the family of the deceased, the Katagum Emirate, and the people of Bauchi State to take solace in the impactful life and enduring legacy of the late statesman, praying that Almighty Allah forgive his shortcomings and grant him eternal rest in Aljannatul Firdaus.

Governor Mohammed extended heartfelt condolences to the family, associates, and the Emir of Katagum, stating that the people of Bauchi State will continue to remember Audu Katagum for his invaluable contributions to governance, unity, and development.
