Container Crushes Car, Claiming Three Lives On Lagos-Ibadan Expressway

According to Florence Okpe, the spokesperson for the Ogun State Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), the fatal accident was attributed to reckless driving leading to a loss of control. The victims, reportedly occupants of a Howo truck lacking a visible number plate, were caught in the devastating aftermath of the container’s descent.

Despite valiant efforts by the FRSC rescue team to extricate the trapped individuals, the driver and two passengers succumbed to their injuries due to the impact of the container. Their lifeless bodies were swiftly transported to a morgue in Sagamu.

Okpe revealed further details, stating, “The FRSC operatives at Mowe carried out rescue operation at about 0107 hrs on Lagos-Ibadan Expressway around Mowe involving two vehicles (trucks) with registration number T-15636LA Bluebird and a HowoTruck with no number on it.”

In response to the tragic incident, authorities mobilized a tow truck to clear the wreckage and a crane to lift the container off the road, thereby mitigating traffic congestion. Despite ongoing efforts to manage the aftermath, the solemn reality of the lives lost serves as a stark reminder of the importance of defensive driving and prioritizing the safety of all road users.

As investigations continue into the cause of the crash, the FRSC issued a poignant reminder to motorists, urging them to exercise caution and vigilance to prevent such devastating accidents in the future.
