In his address, President Tinubu underscored the urgent need for collective action, stressing that the continent’s health challenges demand collaborative efforts transcending geographical and sectoral boundaries.
Appointed as the AU Champion for Human Resources for Health and Community Health Delivery Partnership, President Tinubu highlighted the interconnected nature of Africa’s health challenges, emphasizing the importance of a unified approach.
Asserting that Africa cannot address its health issues in isolation, President Tinubu emphasized the significance of global partnerships grounded in mutual respect and cooperation.
He outlined a range of health issues plaguing the continent, including infectious diseases, limited access to healthcare, and the rise of non-communicable diseases, underscoring the need for comprehensive solutions.
President Tinubu advocated for robust investments in healthcare infrastructure, manpower training, and preventive measures to tackle these challenges effectively.
Linking health outcomes to socio-economic factors, President Tinubu emphasized the intrinsic connection between health, education, and economic prosperity.
He highlighted Nigeria’s efforts to enhance healthcare accessibility and quality through initiatives like the Nigeria Health Sector Renewal Investment Initiative (NHSRII), aimed at improving health outcomes and unlocking economic potential.
President Tinubu called on African leaders to prioritize concrete actions and policies to drive positive change in healthcare delivery, emphasizing the importance of collective commitment towards a healthier and more prosperous future for all Africans in alignment with Agenda 2063.
