Nigeria Poised To Host African Central Bank, President Tinubu Assures AU Leaders

President Tinubu affirmed his administration’s commitment to collaborating with the African Union Commission and member states to ensure the smooth establishment of the bank by its scheduled launch in 2028.
Amidst a backdrop of formidable challenges facing the continent, President Tinubu emphasized the necessity of unity and solidarity among African nations to surmount obstacles and achieve collective progress.
Addressing issues ranging from climate change to constitutional governance, President Tinubu underscored the imperative of addressing internal challenges while navigating external pressures.
Reflecting on recent military takeovers in several African nations and subsequent tensions within regional blocs like ECOWAS, President Tinubu stressed the importance of maintaining regional cohesion and cooperation despite political disagreements.
He extended an olive branch to neighboring nations, emphasizing Nigeria’s commitment to fostering peace and unity within the West African region.
Turning to the theme of education at the summit, President Tinubu highlighted its critical role in Africa’s development trajectory, emphasizing the need for a comprehensive educational reform agenda that equips African youths with the skills and knowledge needed for the 21st-century global economy.
Furthermore, he announced Nigeria’s initiative to host the Africa Counter-Terrorism Summit in April 2024, aimed at addressing the root causes of violent extremism through a holistic approach encompassing social, economic, and political dimensions.
President Tinubu’s address resonated with a message of hope, collaboration, and proactive leadership, positioning Nigeria as a pivotal player in Africa’s journey towards prosperity and unity.
