Court Rules On Blessing CEO: Bail Granted, Remand Ordered
A Federal High Court sitting in Lagos on Tuesday ordered that popular social media personality, Blessing Nkiruka Okoro, widely known as Blessing CEO, be remanded in a correctional facility pending the fulfilment of her bail conditions.
According to Ireporter Online, the presiding judge, Justice D.I. Dipeolu, gave the ruling after the defendant was arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on charges bordering on obtaining money by false pretence and alleged conversion of funds.
Blessing CEO pleaded not guilty to all the charges brought against her.
During the proceedings, her counsel, Nneka Nkama, urged the court to allow her client remain in EFCC custody until she perfected her bail conditions. However, the EFCC counsel, Suleiman Suleiman, opposed the request, stating that the commission’s detention facility was already overstretched and could not accommodate her further.
After hearing arguments from both sides, Justice Dipeolu ordered that she be remanded in a correctional centre until she satisfies the terms of her bail, and adjourned the case till June 22, 2026, for continuation of trial.
The EFCC alleged that Blessing CEO obtained the sum of ₦36 million from a complainant, Mrs Ifeyinwa Nonye Okoye, between July 14 and July 17, 2024, under the claim that she had authority to lease a six-bedroom detached duplex located on Tunbosun Osobu Street in the Lekki area of Lagos State.
The commission further alleged that after payment was made, the complainant commenced renovation works on the property before the actual owner surfaced and allegedly ejected her from the premises. EFCC maintained that the funds were unlawfully converted for personal use, adding that the alleged offences contravened relevant provisions of the law.
Blessing CEO, however, denied all allegations when the charges were read to her, setting the stage for trial proceedings.
