According to reports from Naija News, this disclosure was made by the state Police Commissioner, Funsho Adeboye, during a press briefing held in the vibrant city of Benin City on Thursday.

“We have arrested 10 forex hawkers, individuals engaged in the unauthorized sale of foreign currencies. They have been identified for their involvement in illegal forex dealings,” Commissioner Adeboye stated.

Highlighting the detrimental impact of unauthorized forex trading on the nation’s economy, Adeboye expressed concern over the undue influence of forex hawkers on exchange rates, stressing the need for modernized currency exchange practices.

“It is regrettable that in the twenty-first century, we still rely on roadside transactions for foreign currencies,” Adeboye lamented, underscoring the importance of utilizing established financial institutions for forex transactions.

Encouraging citizens to leverage licensed financial institutions for forex transactions, Adeboye commended the federal government’s efforts to register legitimate Bureau de Change operators, thereby facilitating lawful financial transactions.
