Afrobeats superstar David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has raised an alarm over an alleged plan to arrest members and supporters of the Accord Party ahead of Saturday’s governorship election in Osun State.

According to Ireporter Online, Davido made the allegation in a post on his official X account on Thursday, urging Accord members to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions for their safety.

The singer, whose uncle and incumbent Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, is seeking re-election on the Accord platform, expressed confidence that the party would emerge victorious despite what he described as attempts by its opponents to frustrate its supporters.

Davido claimed that he had received information suggesting that some Accord members could be arrested in the hours leading up to the election.

He therefore called on party supporters to remain alert and protect themselves, while insisting that any alleged plan to undermine the party would not succeed.

The singer’s warning comes amid heightened political tension and security concerns across Osun State as political parties intensify their activities ahead of the August 15 governorship election.

Accusations of intimidation and possible violence have continued to dominate the political atmosphere, with rival camps trading allegations over activities allegedly aimed at influencing the outcome of the poll.

Governor Adeleke had previously accused the All Progressives Congress of using federal institutions to intimidate members and supporters of his administration ahead of the election.

The APC, however, has rejected such allegations and denied plans to use federal authority to manipulate the electoral process.

Davido’s latest intervention has further drawn public attention to the security concerns surrounding the election, with his appeal coming at a time when political parties and their supporters are preparing for the final stage of the electoral contest.

The singer maintained that Accord supporters should remain calm and vigilant as they prepare to exercise their democratic rights on Saturday.
