Obaseki’s Wife Dismisses Claims Of Tinubu Interference In Edo Gubernatorial Polls
The First Lady of Edo State, Betsy Obaseki, has dispelled allegations that President Bola Tinubu plans to use “federal might” to influence the upcoming gubernatorial election in the state. In an online interview, Obaseki dismissed claims that Tinubu is attempting to sway the September 21 election in favor of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
She emphasized that President Tinubu is far too intelligent and experienced to interfere in state affairs for political gain. “President Tinubu is smarter and wiser. He is not at their level at all. I also want to commend former President Muhammadu Buhari for using federal power to protect voters rather than tamper with election results,” she stated.
Obaseki highlighted Tinubu’s track record as a reformer during his tenure as Lagos State governor, saying that his commitment to good governance would prevent him from destabilizing a state that has achieved international recognition for development under Governor Godwin Obaseki’s leadership.
“President Tinubu, as a father of the nation, would not lend his support to any efforts aimed at disrupting the progress made in Edo State. If every state follows the developmental path set by Edo and Lagos, Nigeria will be on the right track,” she added.
