Yakubu Dogara Exposes Fuel Subsidy Truth: ‘Tinubu’s Hands Are Clean!’

Former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, has clarified that President Bola Tinubu is not responsible for the removal of the fuel subsidy, stating that the president merely made the announcement.

Speaking during an interview on Channels TV on Friday, Dogara explained that there was no allocation for fuel subsidy in the budget before Tinubu’s statement. He emphasized that without such a budgetary provision, there was no subsidy to suspend.

Dogara further supported the removal of the fuel subsidy as beneficial for Nigeria, despite its impact on citizens. He noted, “There was no provision for subsidy in the budget, and anyone claiming that Tinubu suspended it is mistaken. How can you suspend a payment that wasn’t budgeted for?”

He added that the budget is backed by the Constitution, making it impossible to pay for something that was never included in the financial plan.
