The delay was officially communicated to employees at the Voice of Nigeria (VON) via a circular from the Director of Finance, Jack Odeh, on October 22, 2024. The notice attributed the delay to the unbudgeted disbursement of a 40 percent CONPSS Peculiar Allowance, necessitating supplemental funds from the Service Wide Vote.

Bawa Mokwa, Director of Press at the Office of the Accountant-General, confirmed that only 12 MDAs are affected. Although delays were anticipated, Mokwa stated that the issue has since been resolved, with payments beginning today.

Staff responses indicate frustration, with some citing fluctuations in payments since the new administration. However, authorities have assured that all pending payments will be settled, and delays will not extend through the end of the year.
