Eze Accuses Wike Of Dismantling PDP To Protect His Ties With Tinubu
A prominent All Progressives Congress (APC) figure, Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, has accused the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, of misleading the public over the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) 2023 presidential ticket zoning issue. Wike recently claimed that Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State, alongside...READ MORE…
others, was behind the decision to zone the PDP’s presidential ticket to the North, a move he argued contradicted the party’s rotational zoning tradition.
Responding to Wike’s comments, Eze dismissed them as “falsehoods from the pit of hell” and vowed to correct the narrative. He emphasized that it was, in fact, Wike who pushed for the opening up of the 2023 PDP presidential primaries, not former Vice President Atiku Abubakar or Governor Bala Mohammed, as Wike had alleged.
In a recent interview, Wike had defended his position by claiming that the PDP’s zoning agreement had always been between the North and South and accused the party of undermining an unspoken agreement on zoning.
Eze countered Wike’s remarks, stating that the former Rivers State Governor was “hell-bent on decimating the PDP” to protect his controversial relationship with President Bola Tinubu.
According to Eze, Wike’s decision to push for an open contest for the presidential ticket in 2022 undermined the PDP’s zoning policy, which had been in place for years. He also pointed out that Wike had failed to mention his role in disrupting the party’s internal processes in the pursuit of his own ambitions.
Eze further criticized the financial inducements some individuals in the party had received, which, he claimed, led them to side with Wike’s version of events. He added that Atiku Abubakar had never opposed zoning the presidency to the South but instead suggested it should go to the South-East.
Wike’s actions, Eze argued, were driven by his desire to secure the PDP ticket for himself, which led him to form the G-5 group of dissenting governors who opposed Atiku’s candidacy. Eze also highlighted Wike’s subsequent attacks on Atiku and his ambitious statements in church, where he boasted about his chances in the primaries.
After Wike lost the PDP presidential primaries to Atiku and failed in his bid for the vice-presidential slot, Eze said, he joined forces with the G-5 to ensure the PDP’s defeat in the 2023 elections.
Now, Eze believes Wike is determined to weaken the PDP further to maintain his political relationship with President Tinubu, though he predicts that this “marriage of convenience” will eventually fall apart due to Wike’s history of betrayal and self-interest.
Eze concluded by advising the PDP leadership to stop deceiving itself with hopes of reconciliation with Wike. He suggested that Wike’s ultimate goal was to help weaken the PDP for Tinubu’s advantage in the 2027 elections. He also called on Wike to sever ties with the APC government if he wished to prove his political relevance.
