Abdullahi, affiliated with the Gombe Media Corporation, secured 436 votes, defeating Dele Atunbi (97 votes) and Muhammed Garba (39 votes). Previously serving as NUJ’s National Deputy President, Abdullahi takes over from Chris Isiguzo.

In his acceptance speech, Abdullahi pledged to prioritize journalists’ welfare, protect press freedom, and advance professional standards.
