Abdullahi, affiliated with the Gombe Media Corporation, secured 436 votes, defeating Dele Atunbi (97 votes) and Muhammed Garba (39 votes). Previously serving as NUJ’s National Deputy President, Abdullahi takes over from Chris Isiguzo.

In his acceptance speech, Abdullahi pledged to prioritize journalists’ welfare, protect press freedom, and advance professional standards. He announced plans for capacity-building initiatives, including training and workshops, and highlighted the role of technology and innovation in strengthening journalism in Nigeria.

Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, congratulated Abdullahi, describing his victory as a testament to his leadership qualities and commitment to journalism. The governor assured Abdullahi of Gombe State’s support as he leads NUJ into a new era of professionalism and progress.
