FG Uncovers Stolen Exotic Cars Worth Billions, Transfers Rolls Royce, Lamborghini To Canadian Authorities

The Comptroller General of the Nigeria Customs Service, Wale Adeniyi, has officially handed over 21 luxury vehicles worth over ₦8.1 billion to the Canadian government.

Naija News reports that the collection of recovered vehicles includes luxury brands such as Rolls Royce, Lamborghini Huracán, Mercedes-AMG, and Range Rover.

According to Adeniyi, members of a criminal syndicate smuggled the vehicles into Nigeria using forged documents.

The operation, known as Operation Hot Wheel, is a collaborative initiative between the Nigeria Customs Service, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), and Canadian authorities.

Adeniyi stated that the success of the recovery effort underscores the importance of international cooperation in addressing transnational crime.

During the handover ceremony, the CGC explained that the recovered vehicles were intercepted through intelligence-driven operations at ports and border crossings across the country.

The initiative also exposed sophisticated methods used by smugglers, such as fraudulent shipping declarations and disguised cargo, to bypass detection.

He reiterated that Nigeria Customs Service would continue to combat the trafficking of stolen vehicles while minimizing disruptions to legitimate trade activities.

In a recent operation at Onne Port, officers discovered undeclared Toyota Highlander SUVs in a container falsely declared as used vehicles and spare parts. Two of these vehicles were confirmed stolen from Canada.
