Kankara Horror: Bandits Murder Residents In Relentless Assault!

According to local sources, the bandits stormed the area, capturing villagers and forcing them into pick-up trucks. “Earlier today, they drove off with one truck full of captives, and now they’ve taken another truck with more victims,” a witness reported.

In a desperate attempt to flee, many villagers sought refuge in the nearby forest, with some tragically losing their lives in the process. The bandits are believed to be heading to their hideouts with the kidnapped victims in tow, as other residents continue to flee for their lives.

The attacks, which began yesterday, targeted multiple communities in Kankara. Victims include individuals from Gidan Damo, Gidan Umoru, and Ungwan Mai Kawo, where four people were also injured. On the same day, a separate attack in Burdugau G, Malumfashi LGA, left one person dead and a car burned, with four others hospitalized.

Today’s assault intensified, with the Yargoje and Dankunuji areas being hit hardest. The bandits, identified as followers of notorious kingpin Ba’baru of Gidan Gamji, have been wreaking havoc, capturing and killing civilians as they advance.

Sources confirm Ba’baru’s group is notorious for targeting the Hausa population in Kankara and has been active in the region since a deadly attack during former President Jonathan’s 2014 visit to Katsina, where over 100 lives were lost. The group, expelled from Zamfara, is now gathering forces at Mai Komo, a border community in Katsina
