President Bola Tinubu, will reach designated centers across all 10 local government areas (LGAs) of the Akwa Ibom North West District.

Speaking to a crowd of rural beneficiaries at the Ikot Ekpene Plaza, Akpabio, represented by Dr. Saviour Enyekere, his Deputy Chief of Staff, explained that the outreach is focused on those unable to afford regular medical care. The initiative, which is set to run for several weeks, is part of Akpabio’s continued commitment to bringing the benefits of democracy to his constituents, especially those in need.

“During my campaign, I promised to bring dividends of democracy to my people. This is a fulfillment of that promise,” Akpabio said, emphasizing that the outreach would ensure no one in need of medical care would be left out.

The Senate President also announced plans to introduce legislation in the 10th Assembly to support health initiatives, especially for rural communities. He urged the beneficiaries to provide accurate health information to ensure effective treatment.

Dr. Enyekere, who also chaired the event, thanked the Senate President for his continued efforts in supporting the constituency and noted that the outreach would become an annual event, ensuring regular access to free medical services.

Dr. Yinka Osho, the lead consultant for the outreach, highlighted the importance of regular health checks to detect potential health issues early. The outreach offers a range of services, including eye and dental exams, malaria and typhoid tests, HIV screenings, and more—at no cost to the beneficiaries.

Over 500 people attended the event, and several beneficiaries expressed their gratitude, vowing to support Akpabio in future elections. Representatives from the World Health Organization (WHO) also participated in the outreach, aligning with the observance of World AIDS Day 2024.
