This comes after George Akume, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), advised northern politicians eyeing the 2027 presidency to hold off until after Tinubu’s second term.

Reacting to this, ACF National Publicity Secretary Tukur Muhammad-Baba, in an interview with Punch, described such discussions as premature and distracting. He emphasized the need for the current administration to focus on addressing Nigeria’s pressing challenges.

“We believe the government’s priority should be good governance and delivering tangible benefits to the people,” Muhammad-Baba stated. “This talk about 2027 is a distraction. Nigerians should be asking if democracy is truly benefiting the masses and whether the government is fulfilling its promises.”

The ACF clarified that it remains neutral in political contests, focusing instead on the welfare of citizens. The group called for the administration to channel its energy into improving the lives of Nigerians rather than speculating about future elections.
