FCT Demolition: Wike’s Aide Claims Babangida And Ortom Owe Government For Land Allocations

has revealed that former President Ibrahim Babangida and former Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom are among those who owe the government for their land allocations. Olayinka emphasized that Wike is prepared to revoke land allocations belonging to friends, family, and foes alike if they fail to regularize their claims within the FCT.
The recent demolition of properties and the revocation of land rights have drawn significant criticism toward Wike. During an interview on Arise TV, Olayinka reiterated that anyone who does not regularize their land allocation will face the loss of their property, asserting that there will be no exemptions.
He noted that there are currently 9,532 individuals who have not properly regularized their land allocations. Babangida and Ortom are included in this list, having received allocations without fulfilling their payment obligations.
Olayinka stated, “Recently, we published advertisements listing names of those who owe the government for land. Among those are former President Ibrahim Babangida and former Benue Governor Samuel Ortom, who is a close ally of the FCT Minister. Despite their connections, Wike will not let personal relationships influence his decisions.”
He emphasized that the minister’s focus is solely on ensuring land ownership is genuine, stating, “If you are a friend or a foe but lack legitimate ownership, you will lose your land.” Olayinka urged those listed among the 9,532 names to take action and regularize their status. He warned that once the government moves to revoke their allocations, they might turn to media platforms for assistance, but the time to act is now. The minister’s judgement will be based purely on the validity of claims, regardless of personal connections.
