Tragedy In Sokoto: PDP Calls For Urgent Probe Into Fatal Military Bombing

In a statement released on Sunday by its National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, the PDP condemned the accidental bombing that claimed the lives of at least ten villagers in Gidan Sama and Rumtuwa villages of Silame Local Government Area during an operation targeting Lakurawa terrorists.
The PDP described the incident as “unfortunate” and called on the military to enhance its professionalism in future operations. The party also demanded a thorough investigation into the circumstances of the airstrike to prevent similar tragedies.
“We deeply sympathize with the Sokoto people over this devastating loss. The PDP calls for a comprehensive review of this incident to ensure the safety and protection of civilians in future military engagements,” Ologunagba stated.
The PDP also reminded the government of similar tragic events in Kaduna State in December 2023 and September 2024, calling for concrete measures to avoid such incidents in the future.
“We extend our condolences to the grieving families and urge the Federal Government to swiftly provide compensation for the victims and ensure timely medical treatment for those injured,” the statement concluded.
The PDP emphasized that while the fight against terrorism is critical, it must be conducted with greater care to avoid civilian casualties.
