ireporteronline recalls that Dare, the third child of Pastor Adeboye, tragically passed away on May 4, 2021, in Eket, Akwa Ibom State, where he was based with his family.

Speaking during a special service at the International Worship Centre in Uyo on Friday to celebrate Ukpai’s 80th birthday, Pastor Adeboye shared his emotional journey and how Ukpai’s steadfastness in the Christian faith provided him with strength during his time of grief.

Adeboye described Dare’s death as a defining moment in his Christian journey, noting that despite the heartache, his faith remained intact, thanks in part to Ukpai’s example.

He stated, “If you truly want to serve God, you must be prepared to serve Him whether things are pleasant or not. In my darkest hour — when I lost my son unexpectedly — Uma Ukpai’s strength and faith gave me the courage to press on.”

Pastor Adeboye further highlighted Ukpai’s ability to endure personal loss and continue serving God, emphasizing how his influence sustained him through his own tragic experience.
