Reports had circulated suggesting that members of the Zamfara Community Protection Guard (ZCPG) and vigilantes were mistakenly killed during the operation. However, NAF’s Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Olusola Akinboyewa, dismissed these allegations, labeling them as propaganda.

Akinboyewa emphasized that the operation was conducted with reliable intelligence and strict adherence to measures to avoid civilian casualties. He clarified, “The Nigerian Air Force conducts operations based on credible, verifiable intelligence and follows strict protocols to minimize harm to civilians.”

The airstrikes were part of a larger effort to combat banditry and secure the region, with Akinboyewa assuring the public that rigorous steps are taken to ensure the safety of civilians.

“No credible reports of civilian casualties have been confirmed. The NAF remains committed to protecting lives and will provide updates as needed,” he stated.
