Monaco’s captain, Thilo Kehrer, had given them the lead in the 32nd minute, heading in from a corner. However, Monaco’s recent downturn in form, having failed to win in their last four Ligue 1 games, is a growing concern as they prepare to face Aston Villa on Tuesday.

The match took an unexpected turn when a delay at the start of the second half, caused by loud music from Montpellier fans, seemed to disrupt Monaco’s rhythm. In the 55th minute, Al-Tamari capitalized on a short back-pass from Monaco’s Kassoum Ouattara, rounding the goalkeeper to score his first goal of the season.

Al-Tamari sealed the victory for Montpellier in the 82nd minute, firing past Monaco’s goalkeeper at the near post after being set up by Arnaud Nordin.

Montpellier held on to secure the three points, moving up to 16th in the standings, just four points away from safety. Monaco, on the other hand, will need to address their form ahead of their Champions League clash next week.
