According to a statement from Abubakar Bawa, Chief Press Secretary to Governor Aliyu, this payment will apply to state civil servants and local government workers across the state.

This adjustment aligns with the national minimum wage established by the federal government and fulfills a previous promise made by the governor.

Governor Aliyu urged civil servants to express their gratitude for this initiative by dedicating themselves to their work.

“With the introduction of this new national minimum wage, we expect increased commitment, hard work, punctuality, and seriousness from our civil servants,” he stated.

He also assured that salaries would be paid punctually between the 19th and 22nd of each month, emphasizing his administration’s commitment to worker welfare.

Previously, employees faced delays in receiving their salaries, sometimes waiting up to 50 days instead of the usual 25 to 30 days. Under the current administration, state workers now consistently receive their pay on time, and efforts are being made to settle outstanding gratuities owed to retirees.

To facilitate this, the state government allocates ₦500 million monthly to address the backlog of unpaid gratuities and ₦300 million for those who retired from 2023 onward. The goal is to ensure no civil servant has outstanding gratuity payments by the end of the current administration’s term.
