In a recent series of posts on his X handle, Kyari highlighted the federal government’s commitment to transforming agriculture from being solely for survival to a sustainable business that benefits both farmers’ livelihoods and the nation’s economy.

“We are transitioning from ‘Agriculture for the Stomach’ to ‘Agriculture for the Stomach and Pocket,’” Kyari declared. “Agriculture must go beyond survival and become a key driver of wealth and economic growth. Kyari also shared details on the federal government’s support for dry season farming, particularly wheat production, where 300,000 farmers were assisted in the 2024 dry season. This included a 50% fertilizer subsidy and a 75% subsidy on seeds, leading to a 98% redemption rate.

Looking ahead, Kyari outlined plans to assist 400,000 rice farmers in both wet and dry seasons in 2025. “For the second phase of dry season rice farming, we aim to support at least 400,000 farmers across irrigated lands, including those in the Southern region,” he added.
