NANS National Vice President for Inter-Campus Affairs, Akinbodunse Praise, expressed this in a statement issued on Sunday in Abeokuta, Ogun State. He commended the initiative, emphasizing that it demonstrates the president’s sincere commitment to enhancing the country’s education sector.

Additionally, Praise acknowledged Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun for his role in preserving the institution, despite previous attempts by past administrations to shut it down.

“As students in the state, we remember the struggles of 2012 when we fought to prevent the institution’s closure. Sadly, some of our colleagues lost their lives during this struggle, and we continue to honor them annually on February 14th. Today, President Bola Tinubu’s decision to elevate TASUED to a federal university affirms that our efforts were not in vain,” the statement read.

He also extended appreciation to the Awujale and Paramount Ruler of Ijebuland, Oba Sikiru Adetona, and other stakeholders who stood firm in ensuring the university remained operational.

Furthermore, Praise reassured that the student community remains committed to supporting the Federal Government’s policies aimed at improving education for Nigerian students.

Meanwhile, the Federal Government officially announced the adoption of TASUED as a federal university through a statement released on Sunday by Mr. Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy.
