AIG Uzuegbu Takes Over from Yusuf at Zone 9 Police Command in Umuahia

The Zone 9 Police Command in Umuahia has announced the appointment of AIG Kanayo Uchegbu as its new head, replacing AIG Suleiman Amuda Yusuf, who has been promoted to the rank of Deputy Inspector General of Police before his retirement. AIG Uchegbu, a native of Umuaka in Imo State, joined the Nigeria Police Force in 1992 and holds multiple degrees, including a Bachelor’s in Philosophy from the University of Port Harcourt, a Higher Diploma in Strategic Studies from the University of Maiduguri, and a Master’s degree in Peace and Conflict Resolution from the University of Nigeria Nsukka.

He has had a distinguished career, holding numerous key positions, such as Provost Marshal of Benue State Command, Squadron Commander at No. 15 PMF Ilorin, Officer in charge of the Basic Training Wing at Police College Maiduguri, and several other leadership roles across various states. Most notably, he was previously the Commissioner of Police in Enugu State.

The Zone 9 Police Command has called on the people of Imo, Ebonyi, and Abia States to support AIG Uchegbu in maintaining peace and security in the region, urging the public to report crimes promptly and collaborate with law enforcement for effective policing.
