The Zamfara State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has reacted to the decision of Aslam Aliyu to leave the party for the All Progressives Congress (APC), stating that the move would have no impact on its activities in the state.

According to reports from Ireporter Online, Aliyu had announced her resignation from the ADC, citing concerns over what she described as the party’s lack of a clear strategy for addressing Nigeria’s challenges.

However, the ADC, through a statement released by its State Publicity Secretary, Abdulhakeem Umar, dismissed claims that Aliyu’s departure represented a major setback for the party, insisting that she was never a formally registered member of the organisation in Zamfara State.

The party explained that its records did not show Aliyu as a registered member, noting that she neither obtained a valid membership card nor completed the official registration process required to become part of the party structure.

The ADC maintained that her defection would not affect its leadership, operations, or internal organisation, adding that the party remains focused on strengthening its base with committed members who share its vision.

The party further stated that it welcomes individuals who are dedicated to its principles, constitution, and objectives, while those who do not align with its ideals are free to pursue other political paths.

“Our focus is on building a disciplined, united, and principled political party with members who are committed to its progress,” the statement added.
