APC Woman Leader Dismisses El-Rufai Defection, Pledges Support For Governor Uba Sani

Hajiya Maryam Suleiman, the KadunState Woman Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has downplayed the significance of former Governor Nasir El-Rufai’s defection, calling it a political miscalculation with minimal impact on the broader political scene. In an interview with journalists, she reaffirmed her steadfast allegiance to the APC and dismissed the Social Democratic Party (SDP) as inconsequential in national politics.

Maryam, who was once aligned with El-Rufai, made it clear that she has no plans to leave the APC. “I am a true APC member, and I will not defect,” she declared….READ MORE….

Addressing her previous criticism of Governor Uba Sani, which had led to her temporary suspension from the party, Maryam expressed regret for her earlier remarks. She admitted that she had acted impulsively without fully understanding the issues at hand. “I acted out of childishness and didn’t comprehend the situation fully. Everyone knows I am a dedicated party member. I have learned from my mistakes and will make amends,” she said.

Previously known as Maryam ‘Mai Rusau’ due to her close relationship with El-Rufai, she has now adopted the title Maryam ‘Mai Ginau’ in support of Governor Uba Sani’s developmental efforts in Kaduna State.

Reflecting on El-Rufai’s tenure, Maryam criticized several of his policies, especially the demolition of markets and the mass dismissal of primary school teachers, which, she noted, had significant negative consequences for many residents. “Many people were affected, and some even lost their lives. Their livelihoods were destroyed,” she recalled.

In contrast, Maryam praised Governor Uba Sani’s leadership, emphasizing his compassionate and inclusive approach. “Governor Uba Sani is humane and committed to helping people, even those he doesn’t know. There is a vast difference between him and the former Governor,” she stated.

Maryam also revealed that her relationship with Governor Uba Sani predates his political career, describing him as a kind-hearted individual dedicated to the welfare of the less privileged. “I knew him before Malam Nasir El-Rufai. He is always concerned about the welfare of the underprivileged,” she concluded.
