Pastor Adeboye Addresses President Tinubu’s Decision to Withdraw Maryam Shetty’s Ministerial Nomination

The revered leader of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has shared his thoughts on the recent removal of Maryam Shetty, an influential member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), from the list of ministerial nominees.

In a surprising turn of events last week, President Bola Tinubu decided to withdraw Maryam Shetty’s name just as she was preparing for her screening and confirmation at the National Assembly.

During his sermon at the RCCG’s August Thanksgiving service this Sunday, Pastor Adeboye touched upon the matter, highlighting that divine workings do not align with such unpredictability.

Pastor Adeboye emphasized that when God elevates an individual, there is no need for elaborate scrutiny or screening. He referenced Psalm 75 verses 6 and 7, stating that God, as the ultimate judge and promoter, bestows promotions without the need for human interference.

Reflecting on the incident, he commented, “The direction from which you come doesn’t matter – be it east, west, or south. According to Psalm 75, God is both judge and promoter. When God promotes you, your elevation is assured.”

The pastor went on to express his disbelief at the reported incident of a ministerial nominee having her name withdrawn just before the screening process. He firmly stated, “Such circumstances do not align with my perception of God. When God chooses to promote, it is an unwavering elevation. His promotions do not necessitate screening.”

Pastor Adeboye’s sermon has sparked discussions about the role of faith and divine providence in the realm of politics, shedding light on the underlying beliefs and convictions that guide individuals in moments of uncertainty.
