Governor Yusuf Explains Reinstatement Of Muhammadu Sanusi II As Emir Of Kano
Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has explained that the reinstatement of Muhammadu Sanusi II as the 16th Emir of Kano was based on his outstanding leadership qualities, profound knowledge of Islamic principles, and modern perspectives.
Speaking during the traditional Hauwa Nassarawa homage at the Government House on Tuesday, Governor Yusuf emphasized that Sanusi’s return to the throne reflects his dedication to the welfare of the people and his commitment to uniting the emirate council and diverse Islamic sects. Governor Yusuf highlighted that Sanusi’s leadership has been instrumental in fostering unity within the emirate and tackling social vices, setting a high standard for community leadership. He also used the occasion to discuss his administration’s ongoing developmental projects aimed at transforming Kano into a mega city, focusing on both infrastructure and grassroots governance to ensure that the dividends of democracy reach every part of the state.
Meanwhile, Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II expressed gratitude to Governor Yusuf and the state House of Assembly for reinstating him as Emir. Sanusi commended the government’s achievements in education, infrastructure, and healthcare, noting that these efforts have significantly improved the quality of life in Kano.
Sanusi urged local government chairmen to enhance their efforts in addressing grassroots needs to ensure that governance benefits extend to the most underserved communities. He also participated in the 1903 traditional Hauwa Nassarawa homage, a significant cultural practice.
Due to security considerations, the Emir opted for a vehicle convoy to the Government House instead of the customary horse procession, choosing alternative routes to ensure safe passage and avoid potential conflicts.
